MediaTek Unveils Dimensity 9600M Processor with All-Big-Core CPU Architecture
MediaTek announced the Dimensity 9600M mobile processor alongside its flagship Dimensity 9600 Pro at its 2026 flagship launch event. The chip features an all-big-core CPU design, a GPU supporting neural rendering, and a dual-NPU architecture split between performance and energy efficiency. By bringing all-big-core CPU design and dual-NPU AI hardware to the Dimensity 9600M, MediaTek is expanding flagship-grade gaming and processing capabilities to a wider range of mobile devices. This strategy accelerates the adoption of proactive edge-AI applications and high-end graphics techniques across mainstream mobile platforms. The Dimensity 9600M pairs MediaTek's Smart Fusion architecture with dedicated performance and efficiency NPUs to support always-on, proactive AI services. However, MediaTek has not yet revealed full technical specifications such as precise clock speeds, cache allocations, or manufacturing node details.
## BACKGROUND
Traditional mobile processors historically relied on big.LITTLE architectures that mixed high-performance cores with small, low-power efficiency cores. MediaTek pioneered the all-big-core CPU design in recent flagship chipsets to maximize multithreaded performance while maintaining energy efficiency under heavy workloads. Additionally, modern mobile SoCs rely heavily on integrated Neural Processing Units (NPUs) to execute complex artificial intelligence tasks directly on the device.
