Major Chinese Tech Firms Release AI Agent Self-Discipline Convention
Twenty major Chinese technology organizations and institutions, including Huawei, Alibaba, Tencent, Xiaomi, Baidu, and Volcano Engine, jointly released the AI Agent Industry Self-Discipline Convention at the World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit. This voluntary pact establishes critical governance guardrails for AI agents, pushing back against algorithmic exploitation and gray industries while promoting secure, ethical, and interoperable AI development across the ecosystem. The convention outlines eight key self-discipline measures spanning trust systems, interconnected infrastructure, interoperability, safety protection, governance mechanisms, user rights protection, and open-source technology proliferation.
## BACKGROUND
AI agents are advanced AI systems capable of perceiving environments, making autonomous decisions, and executing multi-step tasks with minimal human intervention, making robust governance essential to mitigate potential misuse. The convention directly implements the industry self-discipline mandates outlined in China's recent 'Implementation Opinions on the Standardized Application and Innovative Development of AI Agents'.
