LG Electronics' 600kW CDU Receives NVIDIA AI Factory Certification

LG Electronics has announced that its 600kW Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) has received NVIDIA AI Factory certification after passing over 100 technical evaluation criteria. This certification officially establishes LG as a partner for NVIDIA's AI infrastructure. As AI data centers demand massive power, efficient liquid cooling is crucial to manage the extreme heat generated by high-density GPUs. This certification allows LG to enter NVIDIA's hardware supply chain, positioning it as a key player in the growing AI infrastructure market. The certified CDU utilizes Direct-to-Chip (DTC) cooling with a temperature control precision of ±0.25°C and features virtual sensor technology for real-time leak detection. LG plans to seek NVIDIA certification for its larger 1MW, 2.5MW, and 4MW CDU models in the future.

## BACKGROUND

A Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) is a vital component in liquid cooling systems that circulates coolant to absorb heat from high-performance processors. Direct-to-Chip (DTC) cooling is a method where coolant flows through cold plates attached directly to heat-generating components like CPUs and GPUs, offering superior thermal management compared to traditional air cooling.
