Lenovo Brings Vantage App to Chromebooks, Accidentally Leaking an AI Mouse
Lenovo has launched its Vantage hardware management app on the Google Play Store for Chromebooks. The app listing inadvertently revealed an unreleased Lenovo 'AI Mouse' that features a dedicated physical shortcut button for Google Gemini. This release expands Lenovo's software ecosystem to ChromeOS while reflecting a broader industry trend of integrating dedicated AI shortcut buttons directly into PC peripherals. A short press on the mouse's AI button opens the Gemini Chatbox, while a long press activates Gemini voice dictation and the Magic Pointer cursor tool. Triggering these AI shortcuts also synchronizes lighting effects on the outer lid of compatible Lenovo Chromebooks.
## BACKGROUND
Lenovo Vantage is a companion application originally built for Windows PCs to handle system updates, hardware diagnostics, and device configuration. Chromebooks run Google's ChromeOS operating system, which natively supports downloading and executing Android apps via the Google Play Store.
