At Leapmotor's 2026 Tech Launch Event, CEO Zhu Jiangming announced that the company has built a fully self-developed embodied AI robot, but will refrain from public demonstrations until a commercially viable, revenue-generating use case is identified. Leapmotor also introduced several in-house EV hardware technologies, including a 94%-efficient three-level hybrid electric drive, all-solid-state LiDAR, and an 8MP 3-in-1 camera sensor. While many automotive and tech companies showcase early-stage humanoid robots to generate marketing hype, Leapmotor is taking a pragmatic stance by prioritizing commercial profitability over public demos. Additionally, its simultaneous unveiling of proprietary LiDAR, camera, and powertrain components underscores its aggressive vertical integration strategy to lower EV production costs. The technical lineup includes an in-house three-level hybrid drive reaching 94% comprehensive efficiency, an all-solid-state LiDAR with a 440,000 + 440,000 resolution, an 8MP single CMOS camera replacing three separate lenses, and a panoramic head-up display (P-HUD).
