Korean AI Chat Platform Zeta Faces Copyright Controversies Over VTuber Content
Korean AI chat platform Zeta, developed by Scatter Lab, has received a copyright warning from ANYCOLOR regarding unauthorized VTuber fan creations and was separately found using copyrighted VTuber imagery in its external advertisements. This controversy highlights the ongoing challenges generative AI platforms face regarding copyright enforcement and unauthorized intellectual property usage by users and platform operators alike. It underscores the tension between user-generated creative freedom and the protection of virtual entertainer rights. Despite official platform rules prohibiting non-original characters, numerous unauthorized character creations involving major VTuber agencies such as hololive and Nijisanji remain searchable on Zeta. Additionally, advertising partner Pixiv stated it is investigating the unauthorized use of modified VTuber images in Zeta's promotional campaigns.
## BACKGROUND
