Koei Tecmo and SpiralAI Announce 'RyzaChat' AI Chat Game

Koei Tecmo and SpiralAI have announced "RyzaChat," an upcoming AI-powered chat game based on the "Atelier Ryza" franchise, scheduled for release on August 18. The game utilizes the "SpiralLLM" model for text generation and SpiralAI's voice synthesis technology for character dialogue. This project highlights a hybrid approach to game development by combining AI-generated text and voice with strictly hand-drawn, human-made illustrations. It demonstrates how gaming companies can leverage LLMs to create interactive character experiences while respecting traditional artists and creators. The game features both an "RPG mode" and a "chat mode," allowing players to manage quests, items, stamina, and currency through natural conversation. While the voice is synthesized using new recordings by Ryza's original voice actress Yuri Noguchi, all visual assets are hand-drawn under the supervision of the original illustrator Toridamono.

## BACKGROUND

"Atelier Ryza" is a highly popular Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) series developed by Gust and published by Koei Tecmo, known for its alchemy-based gameplay and distinct character designs. As generative AI technologies like Large Language Models (LLMs) and voice synthesis advance, game developers are exploring ways to create dynamic, conversational NPCs, though the use of AI-generated art remains a highly sensitive topic in the creative community.
