Jingdezhen Porcelain Ruins Named World Heritage Site; Official AI-Powered Game Launched

China's Jingdezhen hand-made porcelain ruins have been officially added to the UNESCO World Heritage list as the country's 61st World Heritage site. To mark the occasion, Jingdezhen officials and Tencent launched "Digital Jingdezhen: Porcelain Artisan," an official mini-game utilizing AI 3D generation and PCG technologies. This initiative demonstrates how modern technology, such as generative AI and procedural content generation, can be used to preserve and promote cultural heritage to a broader audience. By gamifying traditional craftsmanship, it lowers the barrier to understanding complex historical art forms. The game features a simulated porcelain-making process including clay selection, glazing, and firing, offering players various customizable options like 20 vessel shapes and 87 motifs. It also integrates an "AI Master" digital human to answer players' questions about the history of Jingdezhen's porcelain industry.

## BACKGROUND

Procedural Content Generation (PCG) is a method of algorithmically creating game data, such as textures and 3D models, to efficiently generate large amounts of content. AI 3D generation technology has also advanced rapidly, allowing developers to quickly transform images or prompts into detailed 3D assets.
