JD.com Launches 7Fresh Chef Combining AI Meal Planning and Cooking Robots
JD.com has launched "7Fresh Chef," a home dining service that combines its Health Brain AI dietary model, a prepped ingredient supply chain, and an automated cooking robot. The service analyzes user medical reports and taste preferences to create customized meal plans, delivers fresh prepped ingredients, and automatically cooks and cleans. This product launch represents an end-to-end integration of health AI, smart home robotics, and cold-chain logistics to automate daily meal preparation. It showcases how major e-commerce platforms are extending their supply chains deep into consumer households through automated hardware. The consumer service starts at 19,888 RMB for the Professional Edition (which includes the robot and 15,000 RMB in meal credits) and 29,888 RMB for the Legacy Edition, which uses AI to store and replicate custom family recipes. JD has also partnered with Raffles Hospital, the British Butlers Guild, and Shiji Intelligent to support medical health modeling and service integration.

Major Chinese e-commerce platforms like JD.com are increasingly competing across the entire food service ecosystem, spanning restaurant delivery, fresh grocery supply chains, and home cooking solutions. Pre-cleaned and pre-portioned fresh ingredients (known as jingcai) alongside automated cooking devices have emerged to meet demand from busy urban households seeking healthy home-cooked food without manual prep.
