Intel Unveils Green Computing Pods to Convert Western China's Renewable Energy into AI Tokens

Intel China Chairman Wang Zhicong announced plans to deploy mobile green computing pods in western China to directly convert renewable energy into AI tokens. This initiative is designed to support China's 'computing-electricity synergy' and 'token economy' goals by placing modular data centers directly next to renewable energy sources. By deploying containerized computing pods directly next to wind and solar farms, the approach bypasses the massive energy losses associated with long-distance power transmission. It addresses the volatility of green energy while offering a rapid deployment cycle that matches the fast-paced evolution of AI technology. The green computing pods feature a rapid construction cycle of just 8 to 12 weeks, compared to years for traditional data centers, and adopt an 800V high-voltage DC power supply architecture to save internal space. They can be deployed as single enterprise units or scaled into massive modular clusters forming large-scale token factories.

## BACKGROUND

'Computing-electricity synergy' refers to the deep integration of computing infrastructure with power systems to optimize resource allocation, which has been integrated into China's national development frameworks. Meanwhile, the 'token economy' treats AI tokens as a core settlement unit and value anchor in the intelligent era, reflecting the growing industrial focus on efficient AI utilization.
