Insta360 to Integrate Alibaba's Qwen and Google's Gemini into Go Ultra Cameras

Insta360 is reportedly launching an AI voice assistant named "Kira" for its Go Ultra pocket cameras, utilizing a hybrid edge-cloud architecture. The assistant will integrate Google's Gemini for overseas markets and Alibaba's Qwen LLM for mainland China. This integration demonstrates a growing trend of embedding large language models (LLMs) into consumer hardware to enhance user interaction. By adopting a regionalized model strategy, hardware manufacturers can navigate local compliance and service availability while delivering advanced AI features. The "Kira" assistant processes voiceprint recognition and intent judgment locally on the device, while routing complex tasks like Q&A, mode switching, and translation to the cloud. Translation outputs can be broadcast directly through the camera's built-in speaker.
