Innodisk Announces DDR5 MRDIMM Gen2 Memory Modules Reaching 12,800 MT/s
Innodisk has announced its second-generation DDR5 MRDIMM memory modules, which leverage upgraded MRCD and MDB chips to achieve transfer rates of up to 12,800 MT/s. These modules are scheduled to begin sampling in the fourth quarter of 2026. This technology offers a 45% speed increase over first-generation MRDIMMs, helping to alleviate memory bandwidth bottlenecks in demanding AI, cloud computing, and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. The modules will be available in capacities ranging from 32GB to 128GB, support operating temperatures of 0–95°C, and feature integrated eFuse and TVS protection designs.
## BACKGROUND
MRDIMM (Multiplexed Rank DIMM) is a memory technology designed to boost bandwidth by multiplexing two physical ranks of memory to operate as a single logical rank at double the speed. It relies on specialized components like the Multiplexed Registering Clock Driver (MRCD) and Multiplexed Data Buffer (MDB) to manage high-speed signals and bridge the gap between rapidly increasing CPU core counts and lagging memory performance.
