ICAIRE Urges China to Lead Global Cooperation in AI Ethics and Governance
At the Fourth Global AI Ethics Forum in Riyadh, the acting director of ICAIRE commended China's AI ecosystem and called on the nation to lead global cooperation in balancing innovation with governance. ICAIRE also announced an initiative to establish master's degree programs in AI ethics at top global universities and invited Chinese academic institutions to participate. While high-level consensus on AI governance principles exists, moving from policy formulation to practical implementation across the tech industry value chain remains a major hurdle. Partnering with major AI hubs like China is essential for establishing functional global standards for responsible AI deployment. Established in Riyadh in 2023 with support from UNESCO, ICAIRE aims to facilitate partnerships across research institutes, universities, and commercial enterprises. The forum took place from September 15 to 17 under the theme of improving global cooperation to advance ethical AI governance.

The International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) is a UNESCO-backed organization created to champion responsible AI development, build technical capabilities, and offer policy recommendations.
