Huawei Launches HarmonyOS 7 Beta with Agentic AI and Star Shield Security
Huawei has released the HarmonyOS 7 Pollen Beta, introducing over 100 updates including a system-wide visual redesign, an Agentic AI-reconstructed Xiaoyi assistant, and upgraded Star Shield anti-fraud security. The update package size is substantial, ranging from 10GB to over 20GB depending on the device model. This update marks a significant step in integrating autonomous AI agents directly into mobile operating systems, enhancing user productivity and system-level security to better compete with Android and iOS. The new Xiaoyi assistant can autonomously decompose complex tasks and correct user inputs, though most AI features rely on cloud computing. Additionally, the Star Shield security system now shares its anti-fraud capabilities, like AI voice-change detection, with third-party apps like Alipay and Douyin.
## BACKGROUND
Agentic AI refers to intelligent systems capable of pursuing goals, using tools, and executing multi-step workflows with a high degree of autonomy. Star Shield is Huawei's dedicated security architecture designed to provide robust privacy protection, data encryption, and anti-fraud capabilities across the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
