Huawei Hubble Invests in Shita Robot for Tactile Sensing Tech
Shenzhen Shita Robot has completed its angel round of financing with participation from Huawei's Hubble Investment and other institutions, aiming to advance its flexible photonic crystal-based tactile sensing technology. This investment highlights the growing strategic focus on robotic tactile sensing and electronic skin, which are critical components for advancing embodied AI and precise physical manipulation in robotics. Shita Robot's core technology utilizes nanometer periodic structures to map mechanics to optics, achieving a high sensing density of over 10,000 points per square centimeter within an ultra-thin form factor.
## BACKGROUND
Tactile sensing and electronic skin allow robots to physically interact with their environment by detecting pressure, shape, and mechanical stimuli. Photonic crystals use periodic nanostructures to manipulate light, enabling precise optical measurement of physical forces.
