Huawei HarmonyOS 7.0 Restricts Xiaoyi Helper AI Agent to Existing Devices

Huawei announced that its Xiaoyi Helper AI agent will no longer support newly added device models under HarmonyOS 7.0 due to business adjustments. Devices previously supported under HarmonyOS 6.0 will retain functionality and continue to support user-configured tasks after upgrading. The move signals a policy shift for Huawei's experimental AI features, freezing agent expansion on future hardware while preserving legacy support for current users. It highlights how smartphone vendors are refining their AI feature roadmaps as mobile operating systems mature. Users upgrading supported devices (such as Mate 60/70/80 and Pura series) to HarmonyOS 7.0 will keep their personal skills and scheduled automation tasks intact. However, transferring data via device cloning to unsupported new models will not migrate these Xiaoyi Helper agents, skills, or scheduled tasks.

## BACKGROUND

Xiaoyi Helper was introduced in HarmonyOS 6.0 as an exploratory AI agent designed for deep in-app control and task automation, such as executing purchases or downloading videos on behalf of the user. An AI agent in a mobile OS goes beyond basic voice commands by performing multi-step actions across different applications autonomously.
