Huawei Details Roaming Cruise Assist Feature for Qiankun Smart Vehicles

Huawei published a detailed Q&A explaining its new Roaming Cruise Assist (RCA) feature for smart vehicles, which enables autonomous driving, traffic light recognition, and lane changes without requiring a navigation destination. RCA works on urban roads, unpaved rural paths, and campus roads, with limitations currently applying only to complex scenarios such as certain roundabouts and toll booths. By eliminating the need for an active navigation route, RCA bridges the gap between basic lane-centering assistance (LCC) and full point-to-point navigation assistance (NCA). This allows drivers to use high-level autonomous driving features during spontaneous, destination-free driving while maintaining multi-sensor safety guarantees. RCA utilizes Huawei's multi-sensor fusion perception combining cameras, LiDAR, and millimeter-wave radar processed through the WEWA 2.0 architecture under Qiankun ADS to function in low-light and poor weather conditions. Additionally, RCA supports an instant parking feature inside campus roads or commercial parks, allowing the vehicle to automatically search for and park in nearby spots.
