Huawei Details HarmonyOS PC September Updates and Launches DevEco Studio PC Beta
Huawei released its September HarmonyOS PC update report featuring new visual visual effects, AI photo editing, and Xiaoyi task mode, alongside launching the public beta for its native DevEco PC developer suite. The update introduces DevEco Code with built-in GLM models for agentic software development and the DevEco CLI toolchain. The rollout of native IDE tools and AI agent integrations marks a critical step in building a self-sustaining desktop ecosystem independent of traditional operating systems like Windows. Providing agentic AI capabilities in the developer suite accelerates native app development and compilation for commercial and consumer HarmonyOS PCs. DevEco Code integrates GLM5.3 and GLM5.1 models using Harness technology to boost build pass rates, while Xiaoyi Task Mode supports multi-agent workflows across over 2,300 skills. The developer tools beta requires a supported laptop running HarmonyOS 7.0.0.107 or higher, at least 16GB RAM, and 100GB of free storage.
## BACKGROUND
DevEco Studio is Huawei's official Integrated Development Environment (IDE) designed for building and debugging apps across the HarmonyOS ecosystem. An agentic development workflow leverages AI agents that can autonomously plan, execute multi-step coding tasks, and optimize build routines to streamline developer productivity.
