Huawei Cloud MaaS Platform to Launch openPangu-2.1-Pro Model on Nov 15
Huawei Cloud's Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform is scheduled to launch the openPangu-2.1-Pro flagship model on November 15. This update primarily focuses on enhancing code generation quality for the ArkTS programming language used in HarmonyOS native application development. This release demonstrates Huawei's continued investment in its proprietary software ecosystem by strengthening AI-assisted development tools for HarmonyOS. It also clarifies that recent service sunsets for older model versions were part of a planned transition rather than a discontinuation of the Pangu model series. In addition to the standalone MaaS platform, the new flagship model will simultaneously integrate into several core Huawei Cloud products, including the AgentArts agent platform, CodeArts code platform, and OfficeAce office tools. Furthermore, Huawei's XiaoYi Work assistant has already rolled out the openPangu-2.1-Pro model to support enhanced HarmonyOS task automation.
## BACKGROUND
ArkTS is a high-level, statically typed programming language developed by Huawei as an extension of TypeScript, serving as a primary language for HarmonyOS application development. The openPangu models represent the open-source branch of Huawei's broader PanGu family of large language models, which are trained entirely on Huawei's native computing infrastructure.
