Honor Upgrades AI Color Grading on Magic8 Series with New Palette Interface
Honor has upgraded the cloud algorithms for its "AI color grading" feature on the Magic8 series smartphones, introducing a new palette-like adjustment interface. This update allows users to fine-tune image aesthetics by separately adjusting "tone" and "color" levels. This update simplifies complex photo editing workflows, allowing everyday users to easily replicate professional color styles using intuitive AI controls. It highlights the trend of smartphone manufacturers leveraging hybrid AI to enhance consumer-facing creative tools. The underlying technology, co-developed with Qualcomm, utilizes on-device AI models and advanced vector retrieval to enable users to search for images, extract key colors, and apply them via voice commands. The camera and gallery apps will continue to receive iterative design and functional updates alongside OS upgrades.
## BACKGROUND
AI color matching algorithms analyze the color distribution of a reference image and map those tones onto a target photo to replicate its visual style. Vector retrieval systems represent complex data like images as high-dimensional numerical vectors, enabling rapid similarity searches to match visual styles or search queries.
