GWM to Launch WEY V8X Flagship Hybrid SUV on August 14
Great Wall Motor (GWM) has scheduled the official launch of its WEY V8X flagship five-seater SUV for August 14. The vehicle features the "Dual VLA" native AI cabin-driving agent, a Super Hi4 hybrid system, and supports 800V+6C supercharging. The integration of "Dual VLA" (Vision-Language-Action) AI models represents a significant step in combining natural language reasoning with autonomous driving and in-cabin interaction. It showcases how automotive manufacturers are leveraging large-scale AI models to transition from simple feature-based assistance to cognitive driving experiences. Built on the Guiyuan S platform, the WEY V8X offers a CLTC comprehensive range of 1,659 km, powered by a 2.0T engine and a 4-speed hybrid transmission delivering 500kW of power. Its AI system supports door-to-door Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) and voice-controlled driving maneuvers like lane changes and parking.
## BACKGROUND
GWM's Guiyuan S is a self-developed AI-centric automotive platform designed to reconstruct vehicle architecture for intelligent driving. The "Dual VLA" architecture utilizes Vision-Language-Action models, splitting tasks between a driving VLA for path planning and reasoning, and a cabin VLA for natural user interaction. Additionally, the Hi4 (Hybrid, intelligent, 4WD) system is GWM's proprietary dual-motor four-wheel-drive hybrid technology.
