Google has officially launched Google Pics, an AI image generation and editing tool powered by its Nano Banana model. Users can access the tool on the web at pics.new or launch an overlay editor directly inside Google Docs and Google Slides without leaving their active document. By embedding generative image editing directly into its productivity suite, Google reduces workflow friction for design and document creation. This update strengthens Google Workspace's position against competing office and design platforms by bringing studio-level editing features directly to everyday workflows. Google Pics features precise object segmentation to isolate and reposition visual elements while leaving backgrounds intact, alongside in-image text translation that preserves original fonts and layout. It also supports real-time collaboration, batch editing, and image resolution upscaling up to 4K across select personal Google AI and enterprise Workspace plans.
