Google Executive Says Asia's AI Adoption Speed Is Underestimated
Harsha Konduri, General Manager of AI Business for Google Cloud Asia-Pacific and Japan, stated that AI adoption in Asia achieved in just two years what took cloud computing over a decade. He highlighted that Asia is now Google Cloud's second-largest revenue contributor for AI globally, rivaling North America in certain business segments. This rapid acceleration position Asia as a central driver of global enterprise AI growth, dispelling common assumptions that Western markets heavily lead in adoption. It signals a shift toward faster enterprise technology deployment cycles worldwide. Despite the rapid momentum, Asian enterprise partners like Samsung Electronics and Tata Steel remain cautious about safety to protect long-established brand reputations. Furthermore, Konduri emphasized that companies are focusing on cost optimization, as top-tier expensive AI models are only necessary for a small fraction of enterprise tasks.

Enterprise cloud adoption historically took over a decade due to complex legacy systems, regulatory hurdles, and infrastructure migration.
