GMKtec Unveils EVO-X5 Pro Mini PC with Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 and 192GB Memory
GMKtec showcased the EVO-X5 Pro mini PC featuring AMD's 16-core Zen 5 Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor and 192GB of LPDDR5X unified memory. Up to 160GB of this memory can be allocated to the integrated Radeon 8065S graphics, enabling local execution of 300-billion-parameter AI models. Running large 300B AI models locally typically requires multiple high-end enterprise GPUs, making this hardware a major breakthrough for local LLM deployment enthusiasts. By delivering 192GB of unified memory in a mini PC, GMKtec makes ultra-large model inference significantly more accessible and space-efficient. The mini PC delivers 273 GB/s memory bandwidth and includes dual 10GbE LAN ports alongside two next-gen USB4 v2 ports supporting speeds up to 80 Gbps. It also features a front physical F-MODE button to switch TDP presets, complete with a quick on-screen status animation.
## BACKGROUND
Large language models require vast amounts of high-bandwidth memory to store weight parameters during inference. AMD's Strix Halo platform utilizes a unified memory architecture, allowing the CPU and integrated GPU to share the same physical memory pool instead of relying on separate, expensive dedicated GPU VRAM.
