GMKtec to Launch Mini PC with AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 APU

GMKtec has announced plans to launch new mini PC hardware powered by AMD's upcoming Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 APU at IFA Berlin 2026. This hardware is designed to target local AI acceleration workloads. This release is highly significant for the local LLM community because the Ryzen AI Max+ APU family offers high memory bandwidth. This bandwidth is crucial for running large language models locally on consumer-grade x86 hardware without needing expensive discrete GPUs. The flagship Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 chip, also known under the "Gorgon Halo" codename, features Radeon 8065S integrated graphics and supports up to 192GB of LPDDR5X memory. GMKtec will showcase this hardware at the IFA Berlin 2026 trade show.

## BACKGROUND

An AMD Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) integrates both a central processing unit (CPU) and an integrated graphics processing unit (iGPU) onto a single die. For local AI and LLM execution, memory bandwidth and capacity are typically the primary bottlenecks, making APUs with massive unified memory support highly attractive alternatives to traditional CPU-GPU setups.
