GMKtec Announces EVO-X5 Pro Mini PC with AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495

GMKtec has announced a September 28 global release date for its EVO-X5 Pro mini PC powered by AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 ("Gorgon Halo") processor. The compact system supports up to 192GB of unified LPDDR5X memory, allowing up to 160GB to be allocated as VRAM for local AI workloads. Promoted as capable of running local language models with up to 300 billion parameters, the system offers workstation-class AI inference without requiring dedicated enterprise GPUs or cloud servers. This makes massive local LLM deployment much more accessible to developers and researchers in a mini PC form factor. The mini PC includes an internal 330W Lite-On power supply, three M.2 2280 NVMe SSD slots, dual 10GbE LAN ports, two 80Gbps USB-C ports, and two 40Gbps USB-C ports. It also incorporates enterprise security features including fingerprint recognition, a discrete TPM module, and out-of-band management support.

## BACKGROUND

Large language models (LLMs) require significant amounts of video RAM (VRAM) to load and execute model weights during inference. High-speed unified memory architectures allow a shared RAM pool between the CPU and integrated GPU, enabling desktop APUs to handle heavy AI workloads without discrete graphics cards. Additionally, out-of-band management enables IT administrators to remotely manage and troubleshoot hardware independently of the operating system.
