Global Humanoid Robot Shipments Jump 432% in H1, Led by China
According to a new IDC report, global humanoid robot shipments reached nearly 25,000 units in the first half of the year—a 432.1% year-over-year surge—generating over $740 million in market revenue. China dominated global supply with over 19,000 units shipped, representing nearly 78% of the world total. This rapid growth indicates that humanoid robotics is transitioning from experimental tech demonstrations toward broad commercialization in industrial and consumer settings. Driven by scaling production and embodied AI model iterations, IDC raised its 2030 global shipment forecast by 50% to over 750,000 units. While research, education, and government deployments previously made up 83.8% of shipments, their share fell to 69% as adoption expanded into automotive manufacturing, electronics assembly, and logistics. Key Chinese manufacturers like Agibot, Ubtech, and Galbot are driving industrial integration, while lower-cost, small-form companion robots are starting to enter the home consumer market.
## BACKGROUND
Humanoid robots rely heavily on embodied AI, which integrates artificial intelligence with physical robotic systems to perceive, learn from, and interact with physical environments. Historically restricted to research labs and prototype demos, recent breakthroughs in hardware actuators, sensory integration, and AI decision-making models have lowered production costs and accelerated real-world deployment.
