GigaDevice Forecasts DRAM and SLC NAND Shortages Will Persist Through 2027
Semiconductor vendor GigaDevice announced that DRAM and SLC NAND flash supply shortages are unlikely to ease significantly through 2027 due to constrained industry capacity additions. The company expects memory prices to remain elevated with a moderate upward trajectory in the second half of the year. Driven by rapid AI infrastructure expansion, extended memory supply tightness highlights sustained structural demand across the global hardware supply chain. It also underscores the strategic growth of Chinese memory manufacturers like CXMT as domestic companies scale up foundry orders to meet high demand. GigaDevice projects its 2026 DRAM foundry purchases from partner CXMT to reach 5.711 billion RMB, nearly a fivefold increase from 2025. While Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron control over 91% of the global DRAM market, CXMT holds a 7.67% market share, ranking fourth globally and first in China.
