Fujitsu Unveils Arm-Based "FUJITSU-MONAKA" 2nm Server CPU Set for 2026 Launch
Fujitsu has announced its domestically developed Arm-based server processor, "FUJITSU-MONAKA," featuring 2nm compute dies and 3D chiplet packaging. The processor will go on sale in November 2026, with server products shipping to early enterprise customers in Q4 2026 and launching in Japan and Europe starting April 2027. FUJITSU-MONAKA represents a major milestone for Japan's domestic semiconductor technology and high-efficiency enterprise hardware. By integrating dedicated hardware matrix execution directly into the CPU, it allows organizations to run AI inference workloads natively without requiring power-hungry GPU accelerators. The chip architecture combines 2nm compute cores with 5nm SRAM cache and I/O dies, supporting clock speeds up to 3.8 GHz and high-speed memory bandwidth up to 8800 MT/s. Additionally, Fujitsu MONAKA servers are engineered to operate efficiently under standard air cooling in both 1U and 2U chassis form factors, alongside hardware-level data encryption.
## BACKGROUND
Traditional high-performance servers often rely on external accelerators like GPUs to handle heavy matrix multiplications required by AI applications. Modern Arm server designs overcome this by incorporating hardware matrix engines such as Scalable Matrix Extension (SME) directly into CPU cores, enabling high-throughput AI operations on standard server hardware.
