Fujitsu to Export 2nm Arm Processor FUJITSU-MONAKA Overseas by 2027
Fujitsu plans to export its 2nm Arm-based server processor, FUJITSU-MONAKA, to markets across Asia and the Americas starting as early as 2027. Positioning MONAKA as a commercial product rather than an internal-only chip, Fujitsu aims for cumulative processor sales of 250 billion yen and 60,000 AI server units by fiscal year 2030. Unlike Fujitsu's custom A64FX processor built exclusively for the Fugaku supercomputer, MONAKA marks the company's aggressive expansion into the commercial data center and AI hardware market. This effort will intensify competition within the Arm server ecosystem against established players and hyperscaler in-house silicon. Fujitsu is partnering with Supermicro for server development and is already in talks with over 40 companies, with 24 financial and telecom firms trialing the platform. The MONAKA architecture features 144 cores using Armv9, combining 2nm CPU and 5nm I/O chiplets using Broadcom's 3.5D advanced packaging technology.
## BACKGROUND
Fujitsu previously developed the Arm-based A64FX processor, which powered Japan's Fugaku supercomputer and established the company's credentials in high-performance Arm architecture. Modern data center CPUs increasingly rely on multi-chiplet designs and advanced 3D packaging to interconnect compute modules and high-bandwidth memory for demanding AI workloads.
