Free Online Demo Available for Aleph Alpha's Kolibri 78B Model
A free online web interface has been made available for users to test Aleph Alpha's newly released open-weight model, Kolibri-1 78B. The platform allows anyone to chat with and evaluate the model directly without needing dedicated GPU infrastructure. As a prominent sovereign AI effort from Europe, Aleph Alpha's release of Kolibri offers an open-weight alternative to proprietary American and Chinese models. Providing a accessible web demo lowers the barrier for developers and researchers to test its performance. Kolibri-1 is a Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture with 78 billion total parameters, but only 3.46 billion parameters are active per token. Released under the Apache 2.0 license, it supports a context length of up to 1 million tokens and is optimized for English and German.
## BACKGROUND
Aleph Alpha is a German artificial intelligence company focused on building transparent, European-sovereign AI models for governmental and enterprise applications. Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) is a neural network design that routes input tokens to specific subnetworks, delivering the computational capability of a large model while requiring significantly lower inference compute.
