Framework Previews Mini PC Motherboard with AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 and 192GB RAM
Modular PC manufacturer Framework has previewed a new mini PC motherboard powered by AMD's flagship Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor and configured with 192GB of LPDDR5X-8533 memory. This marks the first physical appearance of a third-party device utilizing this high-end AMD APU. The combination of a high-performance APU and 192GB of unified memory makes this compact system highly capable of running large language models and complex AI workloads locally. It showcases the potential of modular, small-form-factor PCs to handle heavy edge AI tasks without relying on cloud resources. The updated motherboard features an open-ended PCIe x4 slot to accommodate longer Add-in Cards (AICs), though Framework warns that rising LPDDR5X prices will make this version significantly more expensive than the 128GB model. The Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor features 16 "Zen 5" CPU cores and a Radeon 8065S iGPU with 40 compute units.
