Firebird Launches CIS Region's Largest AI Factory in Armenia with NVIDIA Support

AI cloud platform Firebird has launched the CIS region's largest AI factory in Hrazdan, Armenia, built in just over six months. The facility is powered by NVIDIA GPUs and the NVIDIA DSX platform, with backing from CoreWeave and planned investment from NVIDIA. This development signals the rapid expansion of high-performance AI infrastructure into emerging markets outside traditional tech hubs. It also highlights the growing influence of specialized "neocloud" providers and strategic investments by NVIDIA to secure global compute capacity. Firebird aims to expand its Armenian infrastructure to 300MW by late 2027, deploying over 70,000 next-generation Rubin and Blackwell GPUs. The facility's initial clients include Perplexity AI, and the infrastructure integrates Dell servers, Schneider Electric power systems, and Vertiv cooling.

## BACKGROUND

The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is a regional organization of post-Soviet republics. "Neoclouds" like CoreWeave are specialized cloud providers focusing almost exclusively on GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) for AI workloads, while the NVIDIA DSX platform provides reference designs and software to build and optimize these massive "AI factories."
