FAW and Leapmotor Deepen Strategic Partnership in EVs and Embodied AI
China FAW Group and Leapmotor have signed an agreement to deepen their strategic cooperation across multiple sectors, including electric vehicles, smart driving, and embodied AI. This partnership includes exporting a rebadged version of the Leapmotor B10 SUV under FAW's Hongqi brand. This partnership highlights the growing trend of traditional Chinese automotive giants leveraging agile EV startups' platforms to accelerate their global expansion and transition to electric mobility. It also signals the integration of advanced technologies like intelligent chassis and embodied AI into the future automotive ecosystem. Under the agreement, Leapmotor will supply its electric vehicle platform to FAW's Hongqi brand, with the first co-developed overseas model scheduled for mass production in the second half of 2026. The collaboration also extends beyond vehicles to encompass power batteries, intelligent chassis, and embodied robotics.
## BACKGROUND
Embodied AI refers to artificial intelligence systems that learn and act through physical interaction with an environment rather than working only with static data. Meanwhile, intelligent chassis technology replaces traditional mechanical connections with electronic drive-by-wire systems, allowing software to directly control steering, braking, and suspension.
