Envision Group Launches Massive Green AI Computing Center in Ulanqab
Envision Group has officially launched the "Ulanqab Galaxy Base," a massive AI computing center in Inner Mongolia with a planned capacity of 2GW. As the first flagship project of the "Mission Gobi" initiative, it features million-card parallel capability and a million-P computing scale. This facility addresses the massive energy demands of AI workloads by utilizing local wind power, while specifically supporting the deployment of domestic Chinese AI chips. It aligns with China's national strategy to shift computing resources to resource-rich western regions. The 120,000-square-meter facility achieves up to 10 times the computing density of traditional data centers and is powered directly by self-built wind farms. It is located in Ulanqab, a key hub in China's computing network where green electricity already accounts for 67% of the local grid.
## BACKGROUND
Envision's "Mission Gobi" is a global initiative launched in 2026 aiming to deploy 5GW of green AI data center capacity in arid regions by 2030. Additionally, China's "East-to-West Computing Resource Transfer" project is a national strategy designed to channel computing demands from developed eastern coastal areas to western regions rich in renewable energy.
