Driven by AI Boom, Analysts Expect TSMC's Sixth Consecutive Record Profit Quarter
Driven by intense global demand for AI chips and advanced packaging, analysts expect TSMC to report a 65% year-over-year surge in third-quarter net profit to 746.3 billion New Taiwan Dollars. This performance marks the company's sixth consecutive quarter of record-breaking profits. As the primary contract manufacturer for industry giants like NVIDIA and Apple, TSMC's financial results serve as a crucial barometer for the entire semiconductor and artificial intelligence ecosystem. Its continued growth highlights the sustained infrastructure spending on AI hardware despite broader macroeconomic uncertainties. Analysts estimate that TSMC's third-quarter net profit will easily surpass the 706.56 billion New Taiwan Dollar threshold required to set a new quarterly high, continuing an eleven-quarter streak of profit growth. Furthermore, TSMC has raised its capital expenditure target for the year to between 60 billion and 64 billion US dollars to expand its manufacturing footprint.
## BACKGROUND
CoWoS (Chip-on-Wafer-on-Substrate) is an advanced 2.5D packaging technology developed by TSMC that enables heterogeneous integration by combining system-on-chips and high-bandwidth memory onto a single substrate. This packaging method has become a critical bottleneck and enabler for high-performance AI processors like NVIDIA's GPUs, where traditional packaging falls short.
