DeepSeek Open-Sources DeepInfer for High-Performance AI Inference
DeepSeek has released DeepInfer as an open-source inference framework under the Apache 2.0 license, alongside its token encoding layer deepseek-recipe. The framework is designed to power large-scale production services with massive token throughput and high profit margins. This release provides the broader AI and systems engineering communities with access to the high-performance inference engine behind DeepSeek's production services. It highlights extreme hardware efficiency and economic viability, setting new benchmarks for large-scale AI deployment costs. DeepInfer supports offline inference and the core features required for serving large language models at scale, notably driving models like DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash. The accompanying token encoding and decoding layer, deepseek-recipe, is released under the permissive MIT license.
## BACKGROUND
Inference frameworks are specialized software stacks that optimize how trained machine learning models generate responses or tokens, maximizing hardware utilization on expensive accelerators like GPUs. Achieving high token throughput and low operational costs is a central engineering challenge in making large language models economically viable for commercial deployment.
