DeepSeek Harness Adds Experimental Claude Code Mods Compatibility and Reaffirms Plugin Philosophy
DeepSeek Harness developer Cui Tianyi announced the addition of an experimental Claude Code Mods compatibility layer in version v0.2.1-alpha.1. He reiterated that the open-source agent framework was designed from inception around an "everything is a plugin" architecture. This compatibility layer tests whether external AI agent extension formats can run as subsets within DeepSeek Harness, potentially broadening its ecosystem. With approximately 60% of DeepSeek Harness users relying on third-party plugins, expanding extensibility and plugin management is crucial for user adoption. The Claude Code Mods compatibility layer remains an experimental alpha feature that cannot seamlessly run all mods yet. The latest updates also introduced a desktop GUI plugin management page, allowing users to install npm plugin packages directly without command-line tools.
