DeepSeek Founder Liang Wenfeng Explores Entry into Embodied AI
DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng is reportedly exploring entry into the embodied AI sector through in-house research teams and strategic investments in robotics startups. Reports indicate that DeepSeek is planning to lead a significant funding round for Winverse AI, a robotics startup founded by former Tencent AI scientist Hu Han. This move signals a major strategic expansion for DeepSeek beyond software-based large language models into physical hardware and robotics. Entering the embodied AI space positions the company to bridge digital intelligence with the physical world, aligning with broader industry trends toward artificial general intelligence. Liang Wenfeng has previously invested in Unitree Robotics and is reportedly leading a seed round valuing Winverse AI at approximately 3.1 billion yuan. As of the report's release, DeepSeek has not officially responded to these industry reports.
## BACKGROUND
Embodied AI is an interdisciplinary field combining artificial intelligence and robotics, where an intelligent agent possesses a physical body to interact dynamically with its environment. Unlike pure software models such as ChatGPT, embodied AI systems integrate perception, action, and cognition to autonomously learn and evolve in the physical world.
