Deepal Partners with Volcengine to Bring ByteDance's Doubao LLM to S07 Smart Cockpit

Deepal Automobile has partnered with ByteDance's cloud service platform Volcengine to integrate the Doubao large language model into the smart cockpit of the upcoming Deepal S07 AI Laser Edition. The vehicle supports features such as natural language route planning, external voice control, voiceprint recognition, and child-friendly conversational modes. This partnership reflects a growing trend among electric vehicle manufacturers to rely on specialized tech giants and third-party AI ecosystems to power smart cockpit features rather than building foundation models independently. It also showcases the practical adoption of edge-cloud hybrid architectures to deliver low-latency voice interactions while preserving offline functionality. The cockpit utilizes a hybrid cloud-edge computing architecture where basic voice controls are processed locally within milliseconds to maintain functionality in tunnels or underground garages, while complex generative queries are sent to the cloud. Owners can also configure over 30 modular scenario blocks to build tailored vehicle automation routines.
