Cursor Launches 'Cursor Router' for Teams and Enterprise Plans

Cursor has officially launched "Cursor Router" for its Teams and Enterprise plans, allowing organizations to manage model access and optimization settings. Administrators can now enable the router per team, set default models, and allow or block specific models. This feature helps organizations optimize their AI spending by routing requests to the most cost-effective models instead of default high-cost models. It provides enterprise administrators with granular control over AI usage and compliance within their development workflows. During early access, customers reported a lower cost per commit with no drop-off in quality compared to routing all requests to Claude Opus. Additionally, administrators can disable select optimization modes for their users to maintain consistency.

## BACKGROUND

Cursor is a popular AI-powered code editor built on VS Code that integrates large language models (LLMs) to assist developers with coding tasks. LLM routing is a strategy that directs user prompts to the most suitable model based on complexity and cost, preventing the unnecessary use of expensive, high-end models for simple tasks.
