CMG Announces Inaugural World Robot Mount Tai Climbing Competition for October 29

China Media Group announced the inaugural World Robot Mount Tai Climbing Competition scheduled for October 29, where humanoid, legged, and exoskeleton robots will navigate real mountain stairways. The event features two main tracks, four official categories, and an all-terrain mobility challenge covering up to 3.8 kilometers and over 3,100 stone steps. This competition provides an extreme real-world stress test for embodied AI, dynamic stability, and hardware endurance outside structured laboratory environments. Testing robots on steep mountain staircases helps accelerate commercial applications in heavy-payload transport, search and rescue, and human-assistive technologies. The competition course spans from Mount Tai's Red Gate to Zhongtian Gate, with specific events including speed races, heavy payload transportation simulating traditional mountain porters, and exoskeleton assistance. Teams can access the course for real-world trial runs starting mid-September, with centralized qualification testing taking place a week before the main event.
