Chinese GPU Developer MetaX Turns Profit in H1 2026 Financial Report
Chinese GPU startup MetaX reported its financial results for the first half of 2026, achieving a revenue of 1.324 billion RMB (a 44.67% year-on-year increase) and turning a net profit of 612 million RMB. This marks a significant financial turnaround for the high-performance GPU developer. MetaX's transition to profitability highlights the growing commercial viability and demand for domestic AI hardware and GPGPU solutions in China. As global chip restrictions persist, the success of local GPU designers is crucial for China's self-reliance in AI and data center infrastructure. Despite the positive net profit, MetaX's net loss after deducting non-recurring gains and losses was 48.86 million RMB, though this represents a 75.83% narrowing of losses from the previous year. Additionally, the company's operating cash flow deficit widened by 46.89% to -1.297 billion RMB, while R&D expenses accounted for 39.65% of its total revenue.
