China Telecom Launches 5G and AI Food Delivery Supervision Solution
China Telecom launched its "Takeout Cloud Supervision - Food Safety Seal" solution in Shanghai and Nanjing, combining AI video analytics with 5G smart sealing machines. Customers can scan a tamper-evident QR code on their delivery package to review recorded footage of their meal's kitchen preparation. The service extends food safety monitoring beyond restaurant premises directly to delivery consumers, addressing trust issues in online food delivery. It demonstrates how telecommunications operators are combining 5G networks, cloud video storage, and AI to automate regulatory compliance in smart cities. Built on the Tianyi Vision Link platform, the system uses AI vision models to automatically detect seven types of kitchen violations, such as unmasked staff, smoking, or pest activity, and alerts managers via two-way audio. The 5G sealing machine prints tamper-evident seals linked to cloud-stored footage to establish end-to-end traceability.
## BACKGROUND
China has promoted the "Bright Kitchen, Brilliant Stove" (明厨亮灶) campaign to make restaurant cooking areas transparent to the public and regulatory authorities. Tianyi Vision Link (天翼视联) is China Telecom's dedicated video platform that provides integrated video surveillance, cloud storage, and AI analytics across various industry applications.
