China Selects 17 Regions for National Computing Power Interconnectivity Nodes

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has officially announced the 17 provinces and municipalities, including Beijing and Shanghai, selected to construct regional nodes for the national computing power interconnectivity network. These nodes will follow a unified operational mechanism to aggregate and schedule computing resources across different regions. This initiative accelerates the construction of China's "1+M+N" computing power architecture, which is crucial for optimizing AI and cloud computing resources. By standardizing interconnectivity, it helps resolve resource fragmentation and supports the growing demands of the digital economy. The regional nodes ("M") will provide registration, resource aggregation, scheduling, and data monitoring, with major telecom operators leading the construction. For instance, China Telecom's "Xirang" scheduling platform has already integrated over 118 EFLOPS of computing power to facilitate cross-regional resource allocation.

## BACKGROUND

China's national computing power network utilizes a "1+M+N" architecture, consisting of one national internet service node, multiple regional nodes (M), and various industry-specific nodes (N). This framework aims to interconnect diverse computing architectures and providers under unified standards, transforming computing power into a standardized public utility similar to electricity.
