China's National Supercomputing Internet Exceeds 1.7 Million Users with 95% Domestic Compute
China's National Supercomputing Internet platform has reached over 1.7 million registered users, with domestic computing power accounting for more than 95% of its capacity. The platform has processed over 270 million cumulative jobs and currently aggregates over 3.5 million CPU cores and 250,000 GPU cards. The milestone demonstrates China's rapid progress in unifying its fragmented supercomputing infrastructure into a centralized national grid while achieving near-total reliance on domestic semiconductor hardware. This effort serves to insulate the country's AI and scientific research sectors from international technology export restrictions. The network handles over 300,000 daily computing tasks on average, with daily peaks exceeding 1 million. Its integrated application store hosts more than 880 service providers and has recorded over 240,000 orders across scientific innovation, AI, and industrial simulation domains.
## BACKGROUND
High-Performance Computing (HPC) networks aim to link dispersed supercomputing hubs together so users can access computing power on demand, similar to accessing electricity from a power grid. Managed under China's Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Supercomputing Internet initiative was established in April 2023 to unify computing resources, application services, and standards across domestic vendors such as Sugon.
