China's Integrated Circuit Sector Profits Surge 18.5-Fold Driven by AI Chip Demand
China's National Bureau of Statistics reported that from January to July, profits in the integrated circuit sector, led by computing and memory chips, surged 18.5 times year-on-year. This rapid growth contributed over 80% to the overall profit increase of the electronic manufacturing industry during this period. The massive profit spike highlights the explosive demand for AI hardware, particularly AI accelerators and high-bandwidth memory, as China accelerates its "AI+" initiative. It underscores the rapid financial growth of domestic semiconductor players capitalizing on the global and domestic AI infrastructure boom. Alongside integrated circuits, profits for computer manufacturing and computer peripheral manufacturing grew by 3.3 times and 2.5 times respectively. Overall high-tech manufacturing profits rose by 50.1% year-on-year, indicating a broader shift toward high-value industrial sectors.

AI accelerators are specialized hardware designed to speed up machine learning workloads, while HBM vertically stacks DRAM dies to provide the massive memory bandwidth required by these processors.
