China's IIFAA Establishes First AI Agent Trusted Identity Working Group
At the Inclusion Bund Conference on September 11, the IIFAA Alliance officially established China's first AI Agent Trusted Identity Working Group. Over 50 prominent tech enterprises and institutions joined as founding members, including Alibaba, Ant Group, Huawei, OPPO, Lenovo, Xiaomi, StepFun, Qualcomm, and CAICT. As AI agents expand into commercial applications such as automated purchasing and Agent-to-Agent (A2A) interactions, verifying agent identity and transaction authorization has become a critical challenge. Establishing unified trusted identity standards provides the security and compliance foundation required for large-scale adoption of the AI agent economy. The working group will focus on solving core architectural issues, including setting authorization boundaries, verifying autonomous actions, and enabling transaction traceability. It aims to develop cross-industry standards that ensure privacy protection and trusted authentication across diverse operating systems and device hardware.
## BACKGROUND
Founded in 2015 by CAICT, Alibaba, Huawei, Ant Group, and ZTE, the IIFAA (Internet Finance Authentication Alliance) is a key industrial alliance dedicated to trusted identity authentication standards. Traditional identity systems verify human users, but autonomous AI agents operating on users' behalf create new security risks around unauthorized transactions and identity spoofing. Establishing trusted agent digital identities ensures that autonomous interactions remain accountable, verifiable, and secure.
