China Mobile Launches 6G Smart Application Co-creation Initiative
China Mobile launched its 6G Smart Application Co-creation Initiative at the 2026 Mobile Network Conference, unveiling a comprehensive plan to build multi-city 6G training fields and target Gbps-level uplinks. The initiative aims to foster 6G network innovations tailored for future intelligent agents and AI-driven devices. This initiative establishes crucial network infrastructure and testing environments to prepare telecommunications for the upcoming era of pervasive AI agents and robotics. By targeting key metrics like Gbps uplinks and millisecond-level jitter, it bridges the gap between theoretical 6G capabilities and practical high-value commercial scenarios. The initiative features a 'One-Ten-Hundred-Thousand' action plan backed by five 'DRIVE' measures, including setting up an open network testbed and allocating a billion-scale R&D cooperation fund. Key performance goals include achieving Gbps-level uplink capabilities, reducing delay jitter to the millisecond level, and enabling sub-second multi-agent dynamic discovery.
## BACKGROUND
6G represents the next generation of cellular technology currently in its pre-standardization and early research phase, aiming to deeply integrate communications with artificial intelligence, sensing, and computing. Unlike previous generations focused primarily on human-to-human or human-to-machine connectivity, 6G is envisioned to power billions of autonomous smart agents, robots, and spatial computing applications.
