China Mobile Hohhot Data Center Expansion Reaches 20100P Computing Power

China Mobile has completed the expansion of its Hohhot Data Center projects B25 and B27, bringing its total computing power to 20,100P with 16,700P dedicated to AI. The facility directs 90% of its computing resources to serve the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region while utilizing 88% green energy. This expansion represents a major milestone in China's national 'East-Data-West-Computing' project, optimizing resource allocation by shifting intensive workloads to renewable-rich regions. It showcases large-scale domestic AI chip deployment, advanced liquid cooling, and efficient cross-regional data transmission. The facility features an IT power capacity of 120MW, an exceptionally low Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.15 driven by cold-plate liquid cooling, and 3.5ms low-latency transmission to Beijing via a 400G OTN backbone network.

## BACKGROUND

The 'East-Data-West-Computing' project is a strategic Chinese initiative that channels computing resources from the economically developed eastern regions to the resource-rich western regions. Cold-plate liquid cooling is an advanced thermal management technique that circulates liquid coolant through cold plates attached directly to high-heat components like GPUs to maximize cooling efficiency.
